## My Commitment to You

 1. Your success is my priority. I want to work with you for the long term, and I am here to support you. If you're in the team, I got your back.
 2. I might not be present in your day to day activities but I am around. I know everyone in the team and you can talk to me at any point. I will listen and do my best to help whenever possible.

# My Role

My primary responsibility is to ensure you have everything you need to succeed, whether you report to me directly or indirectly. My daily responsibilities include:

 1. Translate strategy and company goals into our development context
 2. Prevent/Remove obstacles to empower you to do your work
 3. Set context and help you understand the "why's" of the goals and activities when required
 4. Maintain the products running, the projects evolving and the team satisfied
 5. Report to upper management
 6. Continuously Improve and reiterate over our processes
 7. Recruiting and retaining top talent.

# Your Role

You're taking on the contract to deliver good quality code. You'll take input from several sources, written tasks, documents, calls and guidelines and using your experience you're expected to come up with solutions and deliver what's being requested.

You are responsible for your own work, you and only you, are responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the tasks assigned to you.

I expect you to:

 1. Not hesitate, always ask for help when needed
 2. Collaborate with the team keeping a positive intent.
 3. Communicate constantly with your direct manager
 4. Own your work. If it's been assigned to you, it is yours to own.
 5. On calls, meetings or discussions, don't improvise. Come prepared.

# My Philosophy

After so many years in the industry there are a few traits that stand out on people that are exceptionally effective. This is what I've found out in common in all these people:

 1. Be an active listener
 2. In a remote environment, be a VERY VERY active listener (read more on the subject if needed!)
 3. Suggest solutions and take Ownership, don't sit there just listening. I want to hear your thoughts.
 4. Put yourself in the other person's shoes. That could be the person that's reading your messages, reviewing your code, using the software, it doesn't matter. Remember they don't know what you know.

The most important trait of them all is **Take Ownership. ** That is the fundamental aspect that very clearly separates success from failure. There are two key aspects:

 1. When you're contributing, be **sure** of that. Don't guess. Don't think. Don't make it up. Plan, prepare, make notes and organize your work. Be thorough and come prepared and informed.
 2. If you made a mistake, got something wrong, that is ok. It is ok to make a mistake. Communicate with your leaders immediately, understand the impact, and come to a resolution together.

# Work Hours

 1. I encourage a healthy work-life balance.
 2. Unless it’s an emergency, if I reach out to you via email or Slack or teams after 6pm, feel free to ignore until next working day

# What You Can Expect From Me

I'm an **Analytical** person, always challenging others to prove their points and questioning what most people accept as the truth. I will be thorough and sometimes I come off too strongly. It's not intended and it's nothing personal.

I will do my best to guide you but not give you answers unless you specifically ask me to solve a particular problem.

I will be explicit in our communication. If you're doing something right or wrong I will be very clear during our conversations. If it's not clear, you can always ask for clarification.

Communication via text is often misleading - Do not assume tone or intention, ask for clarification and specificity if it's unclear.

You can talk to me at any time. Open my calendar and book a meeting in any free slot and I will join.
