# Fyodor Ivanischev's Manager Readme

**Tech Lead at Streamline HQ**

# FYODOR.README

Hey there,

This document is meant to build trust and understanding by outlining how I conduct myself professionally. Please hold me accountable for these promises and let me know if anything is missing. Your feedback helps me improve as a manager and person.

# My role

I am the Tech Lead at [Streamline HQ](https://www.streamlinehq.com/), responsible for all technical aspects of the company.

My main goal is to deliver value early and consistently based on company priorities. I do this by enabling developers to be as effective as possible. I'm here to ensure every developer and stakeholder is heard and their needs are met in the company's best interest.

Each day, I focus on my current priorities. Most of the time, this means unblocking developers and aligning the team's work with company goals. Sometimes, I step outside my direct responsibilities, such as communicating with customers or scoping projects. Once critical tasks are addressed, I switch to hands-on development to implement features or fix bugs.

Due to the nature of my work, I often get interrupted and need to switch my focus. Therefore, I avoid taking on large development tasks that might block others. Instead, I aim to protect other developers' focus while they work on important projects.

# My expectations

- **Be accountable and keep your promises.** This is the foundation of trust and growth.
- **Communicate constructively and empathetically.** Share feedback with care and be open to receiving it.
- **Follow customer-first and company-first approach.** Regardless of your role. Think about how you can help the team first.
- **Strive for ownership.** We'll work together to improve processes so you become a leader in your work.
- **Admit mistakes.** Learning from mistakes is crucial for growth and the easiest way to earn my respect. Share what you've learned and propose steps to avoid similar issues in the future. Mistakes are part of being human, and we'll work together to find solutions if problems persist.
- **"Done" means delivering actual results to stakeholders.** Often, this means end users can interact with a new feature. As a developer, you're responsible for ensuring you provide value to the end users.

If any of these expectations seem unrealistic or you have doubts, please let me know, and we'll find common ground.

# What can you expect from me?

- **Honesty, Clarity, and Empathy.** I will provide constructive feedback in a way that is preferred by you.
- **Accountability.** I will admit my mistakes and work on resolving them.
- **Support for Your Growth into a Leader.** I will provide as much ownership and autonomy as possible, stepping in more when progress stalls. I am always ready to help or mentor.
- **Openness to Feedback.** I am ready to adjust based on your input.
- **Ensuring High-Priority Work.** I will ensure that you work on high-priority tasks.
- **Respectful Conflict Resolution.** I will approach conflicts with the understanding that we share the same goal: the company's success. I am ready to "agree to disagree."
- **Care for Your Overall Well-being.** I care not only about your career but also about what is going on in your life. It is not because I am "nice"; it also helps me manage my expectations.
- **Respect for Your Time.** I will avoid disturbing you during your leisure time to help prevent burnout.
- **Protection of Your Focus Time.** I will do my best to help you remain focused as much as possible.
- **Enhancement of Your Execution Skills.** I will help you improve your ability to complete tasks effectively.
- **Timely Responses.** I will reply to your messages during my working hours, prioritizing as needed.
- **Effective Meetings.** I will take notes and ensure we define the next steps at the end.
- **Commitment to Documentation.** I will contribute to and encourage the improvement of team documentation.

# What quirks do I have that you should be aware of?

- **Preference for Immediate Polished Solutions.** Sometimes I require a polished solution right away, even though an iterative approach might be more efficient. Please let me know if you notice an effective opportunity to follow an iterative approach; your input is valuable.
- **Overly Protective at Times.** I might push the idea of adding tests for non-critical code. Please let me know if you feel this way; it helps me gain a different perspective and find better solutions.
- **Challenges with Long Meetings.** Meetings over an hour without clear goals are tough for me. I usually take short breaks every hour to stay focused.
