# Motivation for this document

I would like the team to know

- what I expect from them
- how I look at performance
- what kind of culture I am trying to create and maintain
- how to best provide candid feedback to me

Why? Because **transparency**.

# My role

My role is to build the right team to deliver values to the end users. My responsibilities are, but not limited to,

- provide time, space and autonomy for the team do the best they can
- recruit new team members
- set engineering roadmap
- set product roadmap and priorities with the product team
- mentor and grow engineers in their desired career tracks
- work across other engineers team on coordination of projects, inter-team movement of engineers and setting the vision for the overall engineering direction and architecture.

# What do I value most?

Spending time at the desk doesn't mean anything to me. I value **performance** , regardless of location,&nbsp;specifically:

- delivery of features, bugs fixes with quality code and test coverage
- proactively communicating with the team on the 3P: **P** rogress, **P** lans and&nbsp; **P** roblems
- seeking to help the team move forward
- solving problems in creative yet practical ways
- putting team over individual
- leading by example, leading by influence and self leadership
- frank and candid feedback, at a professional level

# Personality quirks

I like having fun. You'd often hear me saying things jokingly or half-jokingly.&nbsp;

I like winning. You might feel sometimes slightly unnecessary competitiveness from me.

I like openness. You will receive honest and candid feedback from me.

On the receiving end, I'd love hear your jokes; I'd love to celebrate wins with you together; I'd love to hear your candid and honest feedback on me.

# Where to focus on your first 90 days?

**Day 1&nbsp;**

Laptop, account access and dev environment is all set up.

**Day 14**

A feature or bug is done and shipped to production.

**Day 30**

You are ready to take on a new feature on your own. You know the product roadmap, priorities and current state of the projects you are involved with.

**Day 90**

You are contributing to product specs, team processes and ready to show the new guys the ropes.
