# My role

I work to ensure that everyone on our team has:

- A shared understanding of the job at hand
- The resources we need to do our best work
- Mechanisms in place to drive continuous improvement
- Support for career goals

# Core values

**Continuous Improvement** : I make heavy use of coaching in my personal growth and in my teams.

[Don't be an asshole](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_No_Asshole_Rule "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_No\_Asshole\_Rule"): The smallest unit of delivery is a scrum team, not an individual. This is incredibly protective of both your wellbeing and your ability to create excellent software.

# What traits will make you successful?

Being a great software engineer means being a great learner, communicator, and problem solver. It means taking responsibility for your own success, and knowing how to involve others.

A lot of good stuff also comes from applying good practices from writing code to working in a team: break problems down, solve them blamelessly, stay curious and run little experiments on your work routine.

# What I expect from you

- Frame your decisions in terms of what's best for the team.
- See me as a resource and yourself as the primary driver in managing your relationships, work and personal growth.
- Focus on solutions. Be curious, thoughtful, and collaborative.
- Welcome growth in yourself and foster it in others.
- Invite and honour feedback and coaching.
- Be proactive and communicative in one on ones.

# What you can expect from me

- Respectful, fair, professional conduct
- Responsiveness, proactivity when you ask me for help
- Honest, thoughtful, and timely feedback
- A positive impact on your life at work

# One on ones

We'll have a meeting every two weeks. Generally they're 30 minutes.

One on ones help me figure out how to support you. To get the most out of them, I recommend keeping some rolling notes so you don't forget something that's important to you.

Remember that one on ones are only as useful as the work we do outside of them. I love it when we revisit your goals and plans as they change over time.
