# Kim Wilmot's Manager Readme

**Program Manager, Black Health Plan at Black Health Alliance**

# My Role

I'm Program Manager for the Black Health Plan at Black Health Alliance! I work closely with Paul Bailey our Executive Director reporting directly to Maame Obeng, Director of Strategy and Ops 🪖. I spend a lot of time meeting and strategically planning with provincial partners like Ontario Health, working with our wonderful internal teams designing public and community health approaches and (last but not least!) in Asana monitoring project flows. I spend little time ⌚ wasting it!

# My Background

My background is a bit maverick🚀. You may not know that I started my career on an editorial news desk📰 and have segued to city 🏢 planning (including health🩺). That segue landed me at BHA. I have a BA in Media and Comms and a Masters in Urban Planning. I'm always growing 🌱 and learning and have also taken executive courses in Change Management and Digital Media and Publishing at Cornell and Yale. I AM my only competition! (This motivates me!)

# My Hours

I'm a morning-person☕☀️. My day begins at 9AM and runs to 5PM though I have a tendency to work late and weekends when I feel it necessary to the mission at hand. I mostly work remotely but enjoy in-person 1:1s with my SDI/BHA team and retreats as need-be!

# 1:1s (Communication)

Best to catch me on Email 📩 or Slack for a short, prompt response! As to 1:1s -- link me anytime during the work week to arrange a quick Zoom or Slack Huddle.

# My Style

In terms of my work style -- I like to frontload my day and get the most important stuff/largest tasks 🪖 done first. If you have any feedback to give, I'm happy to receive it 1:1 unless otherwise appropriate. My Enneagram number is 1!

# My Strengths

I'm really good at strategic planning, project management and implementation. I love coming up with creative solutions to problems. I see a problem, I feel the need to tackle it (if you know what I mean!). What excites me, what drives me, what impassions me and why I love my work is the ability to impact change and change lives!

# My Challenges

I have a tendency to overwork and sometimes need to remind myself to take a break. Being around good co-workers helps!😉 It is good to be around people who remind me to take reasonable time for myself. Meeting overkill is something I do not look forward to... but is sometimes unavoidable (I try to protect my colleagues from the same where I can). In terms of tasks, learning a new disease area can take more time than I would like but active-listening, conversations with my colleagues, said ⬆️meetings, and private readings help me to get up to speed quickly. I find professional development supports like conferences a great addition for learning and exposure!

## About Me...

Some fun facts about me... Born and raised in Jamaica🏝️. Being the only girl in my family with car-loving brothers I've had to be an apprentice mechanic every now and again (not sure I'm any good anymore! Please don't ask!).
