# Kobi Sasson's Manager Readme

**R&D Leader at Kobi Sasson**

# The motivation for this document

Knowledge is power, in a relationship, this is extremely true, as knowledge about the other person creates transparency, aligns expectations and the most important creates trust.

So, the main objective of this document is to enable trust between us. Yet, actions are more important than words, so hold me accountable.

# My role

As a leader, I’m measured by:

- Delivering high value to our customers, taking into account the visible value (features, etc.), the invisible value (quality, etc.).
- Our ability to retain and attract talents over time by deeply taking care of who we have and building an appealing engineering brand.
- Setting a clear vision to the group, which is strongly connected to the company vision, and connecting the dots to our day to day mission and tasks.
- Continuous iteration about our process, making sure we are effective, yet, our goal is not the process, our goal is to achieve results. Processes are solutions to problems occurred in the past if the context/org/\* changed then the process should be changed accordingly.
- Mentor and coach individual contributors and managers, that we, as a team, will be able to grow exponentially and not in linear proportions.

I serve you, not the other way around. I’m always available to assist. Ask me.

I’m a doer, and I will make mistakes, which are essential for learning and evolving.

**Hold me accountable, give me a mirror.**

# What do I value most?

**You have a startup mentality; you own what you do:**

- You understand why you do what you do
- You take calculated risks, based on data-driven decisions.
- When necessary you pivot – Failures are inherent in each step of the way.
- You are a Doer, a Builder and driven by results.

**You are probably exceptionally good at one or two domains** , for the other things you learn, evolve or ask help.

**Optimize for the customer** : customers are our first priority.

- If the thing that you are doing does not serve the customer, ditch it.
- If it will bring value, **push it to production as soon as possible**.

**Conflicts are inevitable,** as each one of us brings a different perspective on the issue at hand, so don’t compromise on the sake of social cohesion, you have the obligation to disagree, yet, once a decision has been made, you should commit wholly.

# What Disappoint me?

**If you sit and wait for instructions** – no explanation here :)

**If you are disrespectful for other -** – no explanation here :)

**If you are doing what you are doing, just because you are told to.**

**Results are important, yet, progress is more important.**

- Quick results are sometimes due to luck or short-term thinking
- Continuous progress is an indication of building our knowledge and skill set.
- We all will be measured by our results, but also, on our continued progress toward achieving our goal.

# 1:1s

I love 1:1s, I love coaching and mentoring, almost as much as technology :).

We will not necessarily do coaching and mentoring in our 1:1s, yet, this meeting will be your dedicated place to raise anything and everything.

- You are the owner of the meeting, we will go through your agenda first and if time permits I will always have some questions. First and foremost these meetings are for you.
- I want our 1:1 to be a safe place; if this isn’t the case please tell my boss.
- Urgent matters should not wait for a 1:1.
- It is not a development plan meeting, yet, we will be able to follow up on your development plan in our 1:1 meeting.
- Development plan meetings are not a must, if you would like me to part of it, please let me know, we will set dedicated meetings for that.

# Personality quirks

- I’m hearing only in one ear, so sometimes I’m raising my voice, I am not aware of it, so if this happens, please let me know.
- I have strong judgment, and sometimes, I will talk with strong conviction, yet, I’m not free of mistakes, so if you have a different perspective, I hold you accountable to say it.
It happened a lot, that the new information/perspective persuaded me to change my mind.
