# Igor Mandrigin's Manager Readme

**Core Team Lead at Status.im**

### What qualities do you particularly value in people who work with you?

Ability and willingness to learn, change and evolve.

### What are some things that people might misunderstand about you that you should clarify?

- I care about the product I work on very much. Not the technology used, not how the pure or good the code is, the product that is delivered to a user.
I want to be proud of it
- I’m really proud that I got very good relations with people at all the jobs and positions I had.
- I'm much better at creating/changing/evolving processes than on keeping them up and running.

### What drives you nuts?

- Endless discussions. Searching for a perfect solution, when there are a few gradual improvements that are easy to make.
- When people are trying to control my work environment (like what time do I start my work day, what software do I use, etc). If you don’t like the results, let’s address _that_ :)
- Getting stuck doing the same thing for years :)

### What’s your take on learning & development?

Do (a few weeks), condensely read everything I can find about the technology (a week), do (for a few months). Repeat.

### What’s the best way to communicate with you?

I’m pretty flexible, so the only thing I can come up with is that: [https://m.signalvnoise.com/from-an-internal-basecamp-announcement-re-pings-ims-e0f61ec9e3bd](https://m.signalvnoise.com/from-an-internal-basecamp-announcement-re-pings-ims-e0f61ec9e3bd)

### What’s the best way to convince you to do something?

Show me that that is important, describe what problem will it solve.

### How do you like to give and get feedback?

**_Give feedback._** I’m trying to be genuine, clear and polite.

**_Get feedback_**. Please, provide both what was good and what I can improve part when providing feedback. I’ll try to use it :)

### What are your quirks?

- Please, don’t ask me to have goals for Q1 or QN or a year. I have no clue what I’ll be doing in a month of two :)

- I follow most of the rules of GTD to keep my mind free from remembering stuff.

- I can be too quick in making decisions. If you think that is the case now, feel free to stop me, I’ll appreciate that.

### How can people earn an extra gold star with you?

- Show initiative and willingness to learn by yourself.

- Question my decisions and ask good questions!

### What are some honest, unfiltered things about you?

- I get bored of repetitive stuff very quickly.

- I’m trying to read and listen to _less_ books/articles/podcasts.

- My hobbies are always changing, so it’s no point in mentioning them :)

- I rarely enjoy alcohol, usually very dry wine and only in very small amounts. So, beer at networking events is usually one of the uncomfortable parts for me.

- I really enjoy/follow indie Mac/iOS community: Marco Arment, David Smith or Peter Steinberger, John Gruber… Knowing them might explain my world view as well :)
