# Oded Blayer's Manager Readme

**Engineering Manager at riseup**

# Motivation for this document

Being a manager that supports rather than tells people what to do raises some questions, maybe this document will help explain what I think a good manager does and how I try to be that good manager.

# My role

I lead a team of developers split into a few squads, making sure each of the developers I support are impactful, growing and happy.

I communicate a lot, I take notes and summarizes everything I'm working on, with the belief that when the information is published it can unlock beautiful things.

I am deeply involved in our growth strategy, working on anything from funnel building, data pipelining and impact analysis. As well as defining our goals and metrics.

# What do I value most?

I value optimism, grit and positivity, the people who can do anything and won't stop until they succeed are the people who end up making the most impact.

I value science and evidence based discussion, data and code should win the arguments.

# 1:1s

I love 1:1s - best time of my week. I meet weekly with all people I support and a big number of other people in the company.

I try to be meticulous: take agendas with actionable discussion topics into the meeting and summarize for reflection and action items after the meeting.
