# What I'm Here For?

The scope of my job includes, but is not limited to:

- Aligning the team and the business goals. I want to allow you the autonomy to solve problems how you see fit and ensure these are what is required within the business.&nbsp;  
- Making sure you are successful at your job, and happy in it. I want you to be learning more things, growing your career, and enjoying your work.

# What do I value most?

- **Transparency** :&nbsp;Clear, gentle, honest communication. I promise not to leave you guessing what I really think or expect you to read between the lines of what I’m saying.
- **Ownership**
- **Independence** /self-sufficiency in work/decision making (especially for senior teammates)

# My Expectations

- You are good at your job. You wouldn't be here if you weren't. When I question things it's most likely because I'm trying to gather context, or being a soundboard/rubber duck for your thinking.
- You know more about the problem domain and the day-to-day challenges than I do. I'll work to provide and gain context, and will ask questions to help vet your ideas, but you will decide on how work is done.
- You will let me know if you're unable to do your job. My role is around setting you and the team up for success, however, I may miss some things, let me know when I'm able to help you out.

# 1:1s

A weekly 1:1 or bi-weekly (what's most comfortable for us both), in which I provide context from the greater org, and help you work through problems you’re trying to solve.&nbsp;

- Define **Goals/Objectives&nbsp;** so that you know what to focus on & what of your o&nbsp;important for business.  
- **Issues/Blockers** your facing that prevent you from achieving defined goals. I expect you to come not with **problems** , but better with **possible solutions** & **ideas** on what **support** you require from me (other teams)
- **Two sides feedbacks:** &nbsp;I'll be sharing&nbsp;any feedback I have for you and also expect feedback from your side with regards to your current assignment/project, colleagues you work with, work conditions, etc.&nbsp;  
My preference is for continuous feedback so that changes can be made quickly and often.
- Your progress on&nbsp; **Career Development Plan**. If you are satisfied with your current role/level - fine, I'm not going to force you. I would like to give opportunities to those who would like to grow/develop their career.

For team leads, you can also expect regular “skip level” 1:1s where I’ll chat with your direct reports.

# My Availability

In case of urgent stuff - ping me in MS Teams, otherwise, email is a preferable channel. Bear in mind,&nbsp;I'm checking email only couple times a day.

Please feel free to stick things in my calendar without asking (though do give me a nudge if you do). If it's full, give me a prod as I'll most likely be able to shuffle things around.

I work a bit on the weekends. This is my choice.&nbsp;I do not expect that you are going to work on the weekend.&nbsp;I might send you a message, but unless the thing says URGENT, it can always wait until work begins for you on the next working day.
