# Tanuka Bhattacharyya's Manager Readme

**Senior Manager at Infosys**

# Motivation for this document

Thank you for taking the time to read this document. I hope by the time you finish reading, you will know me a little better, which will make it easier for us to work together efficiently.

# My role

Our Transformation Program Management team is measured by the outcome we help generate at the client organization. We are given a client's problem and are told about a desirable to-be state. We decide how to get to the to-be state and ultimately accomplish that through projects in various shapes and sizes.

We are measured not by our deliverables but by the outcome we generate. I will explain what this means to each of you individually when we meet.

As your leader, my job is to enable you to achieve your goals. I will not handhold you, but I will work with you to address your challenges and help remove any impediments.

# What do I value most?

I like to be hands-off. If you need my help with something, I expect you to tell me. Unless you tell me about any challenges, I will assume that the projects are on track. It will help if you raise a red flag well in advance.

I will be as transparent as possible with you, and I expect the same from you. If there is any personnel-related challenge, I hope you share that with me. I prefer to handle conflicts directly by bringing everyone into the same room.

I am a hard taskmaster and can sometimes be a little impatient. But if you send me status updates on a mutually agreed-upon schedule, it will help contain my anxiety. It will be beneficial not to have to chase you for something.

# My Expectations

If you need my time, please block my calendar; it is updated at all times. If your need is urgent, do not wait for me to reply and call me.

Remember that we all make mistakes. An error is a sign of your efforts. Those who never make mistakes do not try anything new. So, do not be afraid of trying new ways of doing your work, and if that causes an issue, come forward and let me know. We will resolve the problem together. However, I expect you not to make the same mistake more than once. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

"perfection is the biggest enemy of done" and "done is always better than perfect." Do not sit on a task. Come up with a version "0" and the iterate and build on that.

I expect you to be available during work hours, on short notice. But outside of 9-5, I do not expect you to be on stand-by. I hope I have the permission to reach out to you via the official mobile phone for matters critically urgent.

# 1:1s

I prefer to have 1:1s every alternate week unless we need to meet more frequently. I expect you to decide on the topic of the 1:1s, and I would also like to hear about any challenges you might be having work-related or personal during this time.

# Where to focus on your first 30 days?

By the end of the first thirty days, I expect you to have met all the team members and understand the organization and its culture.
